Up until the mid 1900s, hogs were usually raised outdoors. However, today pigs are raised confined on concrete with little or no access to grass. This lack of a natural diet causes the meat to become lighter in color due to lack of nutrients. We raise our pigs on pasture and rotate them so they always have fresh pasture. We allow them to dig for roots and other goodies. In addition to pasture, our pigs receive Organic grain. The pigs are all natural; we do not give them any hormones or antibiotics. Our pork has a more red color which indicates lots of vitamins and minerals. Our pigs are happy and the best tasting pork is from a naturally raised happy pig.
